Look first!

Let me just say…

NEVER in a million years would I have thought I would have more than two dogs. Much less a litter of puppies plus three other dogs. The puppies are nine days old as I write this.

Since they’ve been born, I sleep even less than I normally do. They’re like having multiple crying babies. They squeak extremely loud and do not shut up until they find that perfect nip for their little Hoover mouths. I sleep light as it is- even with medication to help me sleep- and every single sound they make, I get up and check on them. Yes, maybe I’m a little over bearing but with losing one to what I believe was suffocation from mom (on accident), I am super paranoid and can’t lose another one.

Today I woke up at 3:30 am. I checked on the puppies and laid back down. At 5:00 am I got up again because I was in intense pain and couldn’t sleep. My shoulder is… well… shit and I had physical therapy yesterday with a real treat of a woman who did NOT care that everything I did felt like my shoulder was slipping from the joint.

After my husband left for work I let the dogs out to potty and went to try and lay back down. A loud screech comes from a pup. I get up, they’re all fine, I lay back down. Multiple loud screeches this time. As I near the kitchen I smell something… NO!!! Who could’ve pooped in their crate?! They were all just outside!!!

Momma dog, Athena. My emotional, hide from her pups, jerk of a dog pooped right next to her puppies. I clean it up and put her outside to change the bedding out. I put my hand down to have stability as I use my other hand to move pups and it squishes…

Mother….

That’s right. I in fact did NOT get all the poop and put my hand right in it.

I curse, scrub my hand and gag.

I then go outside in the 35 degree cold with winds that could blow me away to get Athena and I don’t see her. There is ZERO possibility that she’s under the house again because we blocked the entrance she takes. I found her laying in the septic water mud. She REEKED. I drag her inside as she reluctantly pulls back and put her in the crate next to her pups to give her a break. I set my alarm for one hour and just as I fell asleep I hear the pups again. Much to my dismay, she had pooped in that crate too! Y’all- I can’t win. I clean it up- put her back with her pups and try for the millionth time to sleep. I’ve had about 3 hours and I just want a nap. It’s 11:00 am now…

I fall asleep and wake up at 11:30 am.

I. Give. Up.

Did I mention one of my daughters rabbits died last night?

Yep. Sure did.

Why?

Who knows.

This is my life.

Dog shit.

Dead animals randomly.

And to top it off-

I’m pretty positive I’ve caught my husbands sickness as I feel like I’m swallowing razor blades.

Don’t get it twisted…

I’m grateful for my life. The people in it and all of these little creatures living among us.

But sometimes… it is…

Hell. 😂

Happy Tuesday y’all!

And remember, look FIRST! BEFORE you put your hand down in dog shit.
